Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi Anuradhapura๐Ÿ™❤️

                   


 Sri Maha Boddhi is a sacred acacia tree located in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka.It is a southern sapling of the historic Bodhi tree that the Buddha left behind in attaining Enlightenment.It was planted. 

          This Sri Maha Bodhi is a southern branch of the Maha Bodhi in Buddhagaya,India,wich was released when the Buddha attained Enlightenment.BC in the 3rd century,this tree was brought to the port now known as sangamitta Ferry at Madagal in Yapa Patune, Lakdiva by Miss sangamitta, the daughter of Emperor Ashoka.  She was a pioneer in establishing the Sri Lanka Bhikkhuni Sasana. 24g BC king Devanampiyatissa Planted this Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in the Maha Mevna Uyana in Anuradhapura. 

            The Sri Maha Bodhi is Planted on a platform about 6.5m (21.3ft) above the ground level.There is a fence around it. It is reverend by Buddhist in Sri Lanka today as well as built during the reign of king Keerthi Sri Rajasinghe. This was done to protect them from wild Elephants.

 
From time immemorial,Buddhists have come from far and wide to pay homage to the sacred Bodhi tree in the island. Buddhists believe that offering sacrifices to the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi will bring significant and positive changes in their lives and bring blessings. Many Buddhists make a special offering to the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in the future,wishing them success in their pursuit of various goals such as healing, childbirth, passing exams and employment. It is also a long standing tradition among the farmers of Anuradhapura to offer their first paddy harvest of the year to the Sri Maha Bodhi tree the festival is called the"New Rice Festival"  
 
They strongly believe that the offering will reduce the threat of damage to crops, pests and wildlife, and will lead to a sustainable production of paddy. The Sri Maha Bodhi shines reverently as a tree that gave shade to the Buddha's enlightenment. Even today, the Botree is revered by many people and has a rich cultural heritage. Citizens of foreign countries will come to pay their respects.This sacred place is a beautifully finished shrine.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™❤️
